I’m fortunate to start every new year with a week of teaching at the Scottsdale Artists’ School. In 2027, we’ll be building a seated figure. We’ll work in ceramic clay without a fixed armature. The school can help students to arrange for firing at the end of the workshop. We’ll have time to hollow the piece on Friday. Teaching methods will include brief lectures, demos and individual feedback. Students will be encouraged to work in a fluid style, sketching in the forms, considering gesture, proportion and shape.
