In July 2020, I’m excited to introduce a course that I’ve been designing for a couple of years: Constructive Figure Sculpting: Composing the Human Form in Clay: Students will be learning to construct a naturalistic figure from imagination during the first week.During the second week, they will each create a unique figure composition. I’ll be covering the proportions, rhythms, and forms of the human body….as well as the process of building a figure. During the second week discussions will center around composing the figure artistically. Field trips will focus on the gesture and body language in historic sculptures, as well as the compositional arrangement. Rome will be the ideal setting, with an almost infinite number of inspiring works to study in the museums and public spaces.
