Hands are often a focal point in a sculpture: a vehicle for expression.
In this 3 day intensive workshop, students will model a life-size hand in oil clay over a wire armature. Each student can choose a unique pose in order to experiment with the design of the hand and find expression in the gesture. I will cover the basic forms that may be used to construct the hand, as well as proportions and rhythms. We'll use various references to model the hand including plaster life casts, our own hands, and each others.
